These wooden figurines are figures of the circumcision ceremony. Collected in the Bié region, in north-central Angola around the 60´s.
These represent "muquixes", masks.
They are carved out of soft wood, perhaps a palm trunk or "Bordão".
The figures are very unusual and difficult to find, have some patina and marks of the time.
Katelenga's figure is in better shape. In his view, the figure of Malange shows some damage and some repairs, his arms glued, the knife he holds in one hand has been glued, see the photos.
Will be well packed and shipped with tracking and trace.
