Abraham Palatnik - Elephans, Artemis Collection. Made in Brazil between 1950 and 1974 - Lucite / acrylic
This is a beautiful elephant made of lucite, made by Abraham Palatnik.
In a very good condition, with the original sticker "Made in Brazil" on the back leg.
Some signs of wear and age, have a look at all pictures for a good impression.
Brazilian artist Abraham Palatnik (1928) was the founder of the technological movement in Brazilian art and a pioneer in creating kinetic sculptures.
In the late 1940s (1949) he created his first 'Kinechromatic Devices'. Followed by many optical experiments in the 1950s and 1960s.
The figurines are part of the Artemis collection with hundreds of different types of figurines.
These are mostly animals, but human and abstract figures can be found in the collection as well.
Palatnik died on 9 May 2020 at the age of 92 in Rio de Janeiro.
