Jean-Pierre Papin is a French football coach and former footballer (striker).
President Bernard Tapie hired him for Olympique Marseille, with which he creates a series: between 1989 and 1992 Papin won four consecutive French championships, and between 1988 and 1992 he became top scorer for five consecutive years. From 1990 to 1992 he was also top scorer in the European Cup for three consecutive years. In 1989 Marseille achieved success in the French Cup.
In 1991 he won the Golden Ball with Olympique Marseille and the following year he moved to Milan for 14 billion lire, with which he lost the final of the European Cup against Marseille. In Milan he had uneven performance, still winning two championship shields, two Italian Super Cups and the 1994 Champions League.
In 1994 he moved to Bayern Munich, where he won the 1996 UEFA Cup.
The final count with the French national team is 56 appearances and 30 goals.
