Pierre Dubreuil: Painter and engraver.

After his classical studies in Vannes, he moved to Paris where he received the guidance of Henri Matisse (1908), and who introduced him to fauvism and cubism. He participated in the revival of tapestry (Gobelins Aubusson) and painted murals at the Ecole Nationale de Navigation (Paimpol). President of the Société des Peintres et Graveurs français, he was appointed Technical Advisor to the Chalcographie (Louvre Museum). He mainly used a pure chisel. His favourite subjects were nudes and portraits, waterscapes, which he combined with balanced compositions, sober in terms of colour. He illustrated in particular: The Chaumière Indienne by Bernardin de Saint-Pierre, the Nichina by Hugues Rebell, the Sonnets for Marie de Ronsard.

Grand Larousse encyclopédique en dix volumes, vol. 4, 1961 edition.

Others have been acquired by the Musée d'Art moderne de la Ville de Paris, by the Musée de la Légion d'Honneur, as well as by the museums of Tokyo, Algiers, The Hague, Göteborg, Geneva, Caracas and Amsterdam.

His tapestries are also found in museums in France and abroad, as well as in the collections of the Mobilier national.
