Beautiful silver vintage cufflinks with Matabia shells.
Marked: sword 835 and maker's mark: W. Rond, Schoonhoven Netherlands. (1969–1974)
Please note: The shells are found in West Papua and New Guinea, among other places. It was an indigenous currency. Matabia shells were used as currency well into the twentieth century. Then as now, the Matabia was a symbol of 'Protection'.
Very good condition - slightly used with minor signs of wear.
