For Sjors, he made biographical comics such as: Marco Polo and Lawrence of Arabia. For Donald Duck, he illustrated King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, The Flying Dutchman and many other stories. He became known due to the ‘Gallery of the Greats’ and the ‘Duck watch’, a parody of Rembrandt's famous Night's Watch. In addition, Balm has always produced paintings in neo-romantic style, which were shown in the past at Kunst Zij Ons Doel, the Kunstlijn and countless one-man exhibitions. The artist spent a long time with French Impressionists in Paris in the 1950s and 1960s, where he worked extensively on his technique.
