Kars Persoon is a painter of ideas: for him, art serves meaning. His work can be seen as an ongoing search for the relationship of man with himself and his environment.
In the early 1980s, he belongs to the permanent exhibitors of the well-known Amsterdam gallery The Living Room. With his province colleagues annex co-exhibitors Peter Kantelberg and René Daniëls he is counted to the ‘Brabantse School’ in this period, a group distinguished by an expressive, mostly figurative imagery with highly surreal elements. Persoon attracts attention with emotional paintings full of movement and noise, such as the depicted here, ‘De Dappere’. His scenes look familiar, without giving a clear message. Piece by piece they strongly appeal to the imagination of the spectator.
This work comes from the company collection of EY.
