Rare and highly sought-after 1837 naval pistol, first type in mint condition.
This first model created specifically for the Navy has no butt strap. That is what sets it apart from the second type.
It is equipped with an original cap. The hammer is the officer’s type. The head of the rod doesn't fit in the barrel, it is too big.
The rod latches are straight and do not let the head pass through the middle.
It has an anchor on the butt-cap. All the screws and fittings are hallmarked.
The gun-butt in select walnut wood is superb and very finely hallmarked.
Perfect spring. The pistol of course holds both positions perfectly.
The weapon is in such perfect condition that I have never dared to disassemble it.
An extremely beautiful gem.
