The painter Niek van der Plas was born and grew up in Katwijk aan Zee, as the oldest son in a family of four.

Niek began drawing at a young age, stimulated by his father. In 1966 he was nominated as a student at the Famous Artist School in the United States. His paintings have been selling like hotcakes since.

Van der Plas is a colourist. Preferably he worked with warm colours. His oil paintings therefore have a French atmosphere. The paintings are appreciated a lot by a wide audience.

He is well known in international galleries and well-known auction programs.
