Johanna Dahm (Basel, 1947): “William Tell’s Shot“ (2011)
For this ring, the artist has shot a bullet through a standard silver plate of 10 grams.
The ring also reads: “Fine Silver 999.0 Melter Assayer”.
Johanna Dahm has been a jewellery designer since the early 1970s and a professor at the University of Design in Pforzheim.
In 2011 she created “Wilhelm Tell’s Shot”.
In this series, she attacks today’s symbols of value and replaces them by the value of artistic integrity.
She shoots through precious metal with a machine gun, the modern equivalent of Tell's crossbow.
