This painting is an absolute rarity of the eclectic Neapolitan artist Francesco Celebrano.
In fact, the apology to Napoleon Bonaparte was created by several artists, above all in Italy we remember Andrea Appiani, but a pro-Bourbon artist, such as the Celebrano, hardly created such works.
In this case Celebrano recognised the French victory over the Bourbon rulers and probably performed this "eulogy to Napoleon" out of gratitude and complacency, since Napoleon did not dismiss him as director of the military academy in 1805 (the year in which he conquered the kingdom of Naples).
However, regardless of strictly political reasons, this beautiful painting, part of the artist's late pictorial production, has a very high historical value.
