Study for a a biblical group attributed to van Diepenbeeck on backside.
17th century, pencil and brown wash on paper. Probably a sketch for an altar piece.
We see 4 figures with central a standing female figure. The skull in her hand, her clothes and hair style imply that the St. Mary Magdalene. To the right of her State a bearded man with T-stool, is probably the Saint Anthony. To the left of the central figure is a woman with a Palm Branch, the attribute for a martyr. The central figure on the ground at the feet of the two women, there would be on may indicate that the martyr St. Catherine of Alexandria

Complete sketch on laid paper with watermark (three crescent moon). No stains or folds. The paper age toned.
