The Birth of Mary. St Anne lying on a bed in upper part, a baby (St Mary) brought to four women to be washed, five putti and the lord above on the clouds watching the scene.
Inkt drawing in grey wash on bluish laid paper with French lily watermark.
Former inscription on the backside 'Appiani'.
The attribution to Francesco Appiani (1704-1792) is confirmed by a drawing in similar technique, also attributed to Appiani sold in Wien / Dorotheum in 2006. (see last image)

Condition: Good condition, slightly foxed. Invisibly closed tear (?) through the left hand of the lord.
