This is a original, rare and unique piece, used in the Portuguese civil wars from 1828 to 1934, known for liberal wars, opposing the princes brothers, in their belonging to the throne, being an absolutist and the other liberal. At that time Portugal lacked armament and the fighting was hard and between both military and civilians. For that reason and for the necessity, they resorted to all the existing weapons or possible to manufacture, appearing some rare, unique examples, like this one.
Undoubtedly a compound weapon, original and executed between 1828 to 1934 by an experienced gunsmith.

the barrel and mechanism is of British manufacture for export to the Ottoman Empire, hence the decoration of the snake and the rose, apart from the Birmingham proof marks. The stock is of high quality, walnut and a Portuguese hunting rifle, having been shortened and adapted. The set is completed with the bayonet and its mechanisms, rod, stripe and association pieces.
The result is a rare blunderbuss with bayonet, highly effective and capable in battle.

Finished for conservation with professional Renaissance micro-crystalline wax, used by the best specialists, and museums, like the British Museum.
