The Silver Beetles consisted of five band members, John Lennon, Paul Mc.Cartney, George Harrison, Stuart Sutcliffe and Pete Best.
The Silver Beetles was one of the earlier band names for The Beatles. John Lennon wanted a name that sounded English. Stuart Sutcliffe suggested calling themselves The Beetles. John liked that but soon he changed the name to the Beatals and finally to the Beatles.
The name The Silver Beetles was the name that stayed with them for the most of their Hamburg Tour.
Stuart Sutcliffe died at the age of 21. The band went on without him.
