This storyline parodying the Eurovision Song Contest was written by René Goscinny and published in a ‘book-disc’ illustrated by Albert Uderzo and published in 1967 by Dargaud with the Philips label. Roger Carel lends his voice to Asterix, Jacques Morel to Obelix, Jacques Jouanneau to Assurancetourix (Cacofonix) and Pierre Tornade to chief Abraracourcix (Vitalstatistix). The music was the work of Gérard Calvi, the usual composer and conductor of the series' cartoons at the time. This unusual edition did not meet the expected success and was quickly removed from circulation. The album version was published in October 2020.
