A beautiful creation from the Caithness Traditional Collection by William Manson. The paperweight is 8cm. diameter with a smooth faceted front panel, acting as a window looking out on the lovebirds sitting on a flowering branch. A ladybird is slumbering on a waterplant and nearby is the signed cane of the artist "WM" .
"Doves" was issued in 1993 in a limited edition of 50 world-wide. This is number 42. Issue price was £195 and the edition was sold out.
Early in this century, Caithness ceased to make paperweights. Their limited editions are much sought after by collectors. It could be that this popular subject may never come up again!
