The story behind the product
Poul Henningsen designed the 3-screen system already in 1925-1926, where PH in collaboration with Louis Poulsen designed the first lamps for an exhibition in Paris. The collaboration with Louis Poulsen lasted until his death in 1967. Throughout his life, PH sought to create the glare-free light, direct the light where it was needed and create soft shadows with the incandescent bulb as the light source. PH 4/3 metal shuttle was launched in 1966. It is designed according to the same principle as the other 3-screen system and based on a logarithmic spiral, where the focal point of the light source is located in the center of the spiral. This lamp is a simplified model of the lamp that PH was drawing in 1929. At that time, the lamp brought the highest award to the World Exhibition in Barcelona. Metal pendants were made in many versions and colors, and the inside of the screens was painted white to give a diffused light. To achieve a warmer light, a transition also produced metal pendants which were gold-plated on the inside.
