This view of Black Rock City shows the precise geometric layout of the site, with Center Camp and the Cafe visible at the innermost ring, and the Man at the center of the circle. Although the layout remains the same, the population continues to grow, from 26,000 when this photograph was made, to 40,000 in 2006. The motto of Burning Man is “Leave No Trace,” and the playa is returned to its pristine state immediately following the event.
