A scarce softback showing the history and progress of Prudent Janus Tournesol - between 1775 and 1850, including the French Revolution.
Illustrated in 56 cartoons or "stations" - two to each page, on the front page only. The cartoons have some little text to each.
Green paper covers, with highlights from the life to the front cover. The covers are torn to the spine of the front cover, but still attached. There is a little writing to the rear cover. Inside, the pages are mainly clean and in very good condition, with just a little darkening to them.
This is a very scarce item. We could find none for sale, and only the auction record where this copy was sold.
"Monsieur Tournesol" then Professor Tournesol , is a fictional character, a great scientist and inventor. He is one of the main characters in The Adventures of Tintin by Hergé. There does not appear to be any connection between this booklet, and Herge's work other than the name. Perhaps this pamphlet was his inspiration !
