Rienk Jelgerhuis (1729-1806) - Zelfportret Rienk Jelgerhuis

Beschreibung
Rienk Jelgerhuis (1729-1806) - Zelfportret Rienk Jelgerhuis
Wasserfarbe - Handsigniert - 1796

A self-portrait of Rienk Jelgerhuis from when he was 66 or 67 years old. The watercolour is signed and dated at the bottom left. Between the century designation and the year, NZ ("after self-portrait") is listed.

The watercolour is in good condition and has no 'foxing' and no discoloration. The glass is not anti-reflective and not UV resistant. The frame is in reasonable to good condition and has signs of wear. The artwork should not be hung in direct sunlight. We recommend having museum glass installed to preserve the watercolour better.

Rienk Jelgerhuis was born in Leeuwarden on 13th April 1729 and died in Amsterdam on 17th April 1806. He was a print artist, painter, watercolourist, draughtsman, etching, engraver and pastellist. Rienk lived and worked in Leeuwarden 1749 - 1796, Kampen (Overijssel) 1797 and in Amsterdam. He was the father and teacher of Johannes Jelgerhuis (1770-1836). Rienk made portraits, still lifes, architecture (genre) and winter landscapes.

The watercolour will be well packed (including frame and glass protection) and will be sent by registered mail. The watercolour can also be picked up.
