Hand made glazed earthenware vase designed by Ettore Sottsass for Bitossi in the mid 1980s. This item is part of a series of black and white vases and pedestals named Hollywood, which enjoyed resounding success from the very start. The main idea, simple yet revolutionary, consisted of merging the ancient artisan knowledge of the expert ceramists from Montelupo Fiorentino with the new aesthetic quality of the renowned architect, Ettore Sottsass. Design and uniqueness become one in this item, which is very different from the low-quality mass-produced items that were starting to invade the market.
It is in very good condition, it has rarely been used and only shows some very slight, barely visible signs of wear on the inside. No accidents, no restorations.
The box shows some flaws due to time too - please see last pics for box condition.
