This stunning painting is attributed to Narcisse Diaz de la Pena. Traces of a signature are present in the lower right but likely obscured by darkened varnish.
Diaz was famous for his barbizon forest scenes from the and was greatly admired by Millet and Renoir. Diaz often painted in the forest around Fountainebleau. His works are exhibited in many museums&also in the Louvre.
This painting is a wonderful example of Diaz' skills and of the Barbizon-school. It is likely still in its original frame which is very rare. The frame will be gifted to the buyer.
The work is in very good condition, it has a darkened/dirty varnish and two professionally restored cracks, but that does not diminish its beauty. First 6 photos were taken outside in sunlight, the other ones inside (hence the color-difference).
