Shiro Kasamatsu (Tokyo, 11 January 1898) entered the painting school of Kaburagi Kiyokata at age 13. Kasamatsu was very talented and beginning at a young age, his paintings were shown in exhibitions.
In the early 1950s Kasamatsu changed his publisher to Unsodo, Kyoto. Until 1960 Kasamatsu created 102 known prints for Unsodo. The prints were created by Unsodo carvers and printers in Shin Hanga style and show traditional subjects. Kasamatsu shows great mastership in night, rain and snow scenes.
