He was born in Tachikui, Hyogo Prefecture.
He graduated from Kansei Gakuin University in 1951. Started his pottery business at his birthplace, Okuma Pottery.
In 1966, his work was selected for the Nitten exhibition. His work was purchased by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In 1968, he established Shoyo Kiln in his own yard at Tachikui. Thereafter, he continued to create.
In 1983, he was certified as a Japan Traditional Craftsman.
In 1992, he was awarded the Hyogo Prefecture Culture Award.
He passed away in 2002.
