Elegantly shaped Naginata naoshi type sword in traditional japanese polish.

The Naginata naoshi is where a Nagainata (halberd) like blade is shaped for the use of a sword with elongated tip and sharp, deeply curved elegant shape.

Naginata were originally used by the Samurai class of feudal Japan as well as by sohei (warrior monks).

The blade is housed in Edo koshirae, high quality double habaki, iron tsuba and tsuka with good old ito, the fittings are very high qualities in great condition, very valuable pieces with gold and silver inlayes, and fine details.
Rare to find such nice fittings on a sword!
