Original woodblock print, Published by Toshi Yoshida Studio - Toshi Yoshida (1911-1995) - "Asa no Tsubakurodake" 朝の燕岳 (Tsubakurodake, morning) - Japan - 1951
Toshi Yoshida (1911 - 1995), son of Hiroshi Yoshida, one of the most famous woodblock print artists of the 20th Century. Softly colored and masterfully composed, Toshi Yoshida's woodblock prints capture the beauty of Japan in his own unique style.
This print is one of a pair of prints of the same location at different times of day. Atmospheric view over Mount Tsubakuro in the morning.
Very good condtion. Fine colors, wonderful bokashi shading. Minor soiling in the bottom margin from printing process (see picture). Never framed, only stored in darkness for the past years. An excellent choice for a Shin Hanga collector.
Toshi Yoshida in English in the margin and in Japanese within image (with chop)
