This sword was made for the Sengoku period (period of warring states)





********** 姿 (Shape): 長巻直し Nagamaki-naoshi *********:



Both terms, Naginata-naoshi and Nagamaki-naoshi,

are used for blades that were made into Katana or Wakizashi

by shortening the tang and cutting a part off the mune-saki

(tip of the back) of the Naginata so as to make the biade

narrower and straighter.
