Original diptych woodblock prints designed by Imao Keinen (1845-1924) - A wagtail, water lilies and a small frog in the right corner - From the album "Keinen kacho gafu" 景年花鳥画譜 - Japan - 1891
These woodblock prints with birds are from the series "Keinen Kacho Gafu", or "Flowers and Birds in the Four Seasons". This series consisted of prints in pastel shades, 160 in total, which were bound in four books. Each book contained 40 prints from a season. The woodblock prints of these wagtails were originally contained in the summer album.
Dimensions: single sheets are 36.5 cm x 25.5 cm, contiguous diptych is 48 cm x 36.5 cm
The diptych is in good condition with some light wear due to old age on the bottom of the sheets. The margins are still intact and contain the binding holes, which were used to bind the prints in the album.
The woodblock prints will be shipped by registered post in sturdy cardboard packaging. The shipment can be tracked with the Track & Trace code.
