Beautiful work of the port of Rotterdam harbour painter Wim Bos. In good condition, just a little yellowed, a possible varnish can make the painting come out even better. In nice frame with great details (see photos).
The painting is 120 cm wide and 80 cm high (including frame). The canvas itself is 100 x 60 centimetres.
Important note: due to its large size, the painting is only sent within Europe.
About Wim Bos
Wim Bos was born in 1906 in Rotterdam. This is also where he passed away in 1974, after a productive artist’s life. He lived and worked, amongst others, in Rotterdam, Brussels, Antwerp and Paris. He returned to Rotterdam in 1924. He was an autodidact. In Rotterdam he wasn’t only inspired by the loading and unloading in the harbour and by marine traffic. Works by renowned Rotterdamse painters like Van Mastenbroek, Evert Moll and Marinus Drulman also stimulated him to often choose harbour activities as his topic. He developed his own impressionist style, close to that of Marinus de Jongere. Apart from harbour views he also painted, painted in watercolours and drew lake views. His harbour views exude that typical atmosphere of the pre-war harbour, with coal firing, screaming steam whistles, rattling anchor chains in the lock, and squeaking and creaking cranes and loading derricks.
