Purchased: 2019 Apr
Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CV3)
History: Purchased in April 2019 from an Algerian dealer.
Petrography: (A. Irving, UWS, and J. Boesenberg, BrownU) Well-formed granular, PO and BO chondrules (apparent diameter 1040±480 µm, N = 24; some glass-bearing) together with amoeboid, very fine grained CAI occur in a highly oxidized matrix (~30 vol.%, red-brown in thin section). Cr-bearing magnetite is present in chondrules. Accessory phases in the matrix include pentlandite, troilite and chromite; metal is absent.
Geochemistry: Olivine (Fa22.9±16.6 (range Fa1.1-43.2, N = 12), low-Ca pyroxene (Fs0.5±0.1Wo0.7±0.1 (range Fs0.40.05Wo0.6-0.8, N = 5), high-Ca pyroxene (Fs0.3±0.1Wo19.5±2.0 (range Fs0.2-0.5Wo16.6-21.1, N = 5), magnetite in chondrules (Cr2O3 = 1.3-2.3 wt.%, NiO = 0.06 wt.%, N = 3).
Classification: Carbonaceous chondrite (CV3, oxidized subclass).
Specimens: 66 g including one polished thin section at UWB; main mass with Mr. M. Arjdal.
