Universal Geneve chrongraph wristwatch from the 1930s. Bicompax, original dial from the period with modern brown strap.
Movement as shown in the photos; inside the case back features the following marks: "Universal Watch (Universal Geneve) - "Staybrite - "U W. (Universal Watch)"
One of the moveable lugs was made 'fixed' many years ago by soldering (see photos), this was carried out at that time for reasons unknown.
The chronograph is marked inside the case with the serial number: 554801
By comparing this to the database of serial numbers from Universal Geneve I have identified that it was assembled in the 1930s, so it is one of the first examples to be made.
The watches took the name of Universal Geneve during the 1930s, before this the company was called Universal Watch.
Dimensions: diameter (excluding crown) 37.5 mm
Lug-to-lug width: 19.5 mm
Thickness: 12 mm
Total strap length: 25 cm
The chronograph is in perfect working order and has been recently serviced by a watch specialist.
In very good condition, light signs of age and use.
