The blade is of this Eickhorn lion head sword, model 1695 is completely flawless: bright and shiny, no scratches and no hitting marks! It is nicely stamped with the “squirrel with sword” logo on top of the” Eickhorn Solingen” script.
The hilt has preserved the major part of its original gilding, all grip wires are intact. The eagle shows its open wings and the lioness looks through her 2 red eyes!
Grip and blade remain firmly in place.
The scabbard is an anodized version, which is rarely observed. It shows light wear and it fits the sword perfectly.
Carl Eickhorn was one of the large producers of Third Reich swords and the firm was reputed for its quality, which is clearly reflected by this great sword.
