Enclosed in a classic gold-coloured frame, gold-plated, with ornaments.
He lived and worked mainly in the surroundings of Gouda, Voorburg and The Hague.
He is known as a painter of interiors and exteriors with figures in the style of Blommers and Israëls, cityscapes in the style of Klinkenberg and in addition above all as a painter of Dutch landscapes with horses and other livestock.
He painted with oil paint and his work is made along the lines of the Hague School.
His paintings were very popular in his time - even today - and also sold well in America and Canada. The sales and auction proceeds went into the thousands.
Many of his paintings were signed under a pseudonym: C. Verschuur, C. van de Berg, C. Hendriks, A.J. van Eijbergen and Johan van Gesine.
All these names represent one man: Cor Bouter.
