Beautiful oil painting on cardboard with a light and flowery atmosphere. Signed at the bottom right. The paint is solid, luminous without damage except the edges damaged by the rubbing due to the frame.
The vintage frame has some signs of wear.
Alexandre Chantron (Nantes, 28th January 1842 – 1918) was a pupil of Pirot, William Bougereau and Tony Robert-Fleury. He started at the Salon of 1877 with a historical painting: Le Christ à la colonne. He was awarded an Honourable mention in 1893, a third-class medal in 1899, and a second-class medal in 1902. If he is better known for his nudes, he nevertheless left us many still lifes and landscapes. His works are exhibited, a.o. in the “Musées des Beaux Arts” of Nantes and Calais.
