Chair clock with painted dial and mermaids.
The Netherlands, eight-day movement with bell, 2nd half 20th century.
Fine Stoelclock ('chair' wall clock).
A chair clock is a hanging clock where the movement with legs
stands on a chair. A lot of these were produced in
the Netherlands in the 17th and 18th century.
The original chair clock had a single weight. The chair clock
was later succeeded by the Frisian tail clock.
Maybe that explains why these movements were
used at a later time as well.
Very fine considering its age, few signs of wear and
runs well. A short video of the clock in action is
available upon request.
Clock without weights:
Length: 51.0 cm
Width: 30.0 cm
Depth: 16.5 cm.
Upon request a video of the running clock can be
acquired via the auctioneer.
Pick-up and shipping are both possible. In case of shipment: registered and
insured up to €500.
