Carlo Giovannoni, painter and sculptor, was born in La Spezia where he lived and made all his works.
A young and promising student sculptor, already in the 1930s he made works that were appreciated in exhibitions and competitions. Then the wartime years as a soldier.
As soon as he returned, he vigorously resumed his vocation for Art with new research, especially in the field of painting (Group of Seven), up to the period of Abstractionism and a ‘Figurative Abstractionism’ that presented him as the protagonist of a broad production of paintings and drawings with many participations in national and international artistic events. Also in those years, he continued his passion for sculpture with works in terracotta, bronze and wood (men and horses, figures, motherhood, etc.), with interesting sculptures with religious theme exhibited in several churches.
His curiosity and the search for new passions led him, in the 1960s, to try his hand at amateur cinema with FEDIC, and for some years he was among the protagonists of the 16 mm with short films in which he told, not only with extremely human stories, the life of simple characters: fragments of Humanity.
The passing of time weakened his strength and commitment, now only his works remain.
