Beautiful snuff tobacco jar in glazed stoneware circa 1870 - 1900
These pots were produced in France, in particular Beauvais.
Has a cylindrical shape and short neck with neck edge, twisted technique.
Around the pot a rather rare depiction in relief of each (2x) 2 girls. (Usually no characters)
One girl wears a flowerpot in the hand, the other girl has a biscuit in hand and is accompanied by a dog.
Above and in the middle richly decorated with vines of oak leaves and acorns.
The jar at the bottom has a mark 'A' and bears the digit '3'.
There is also an unclear stamp In the pewter lid. This lid does not originally belong to this tobacco jar.
Such snuff jars are also on display in the Amsterdam Pipe Museum.
