This wonderfully designed Buddha is from late 20th century. A medicine Buddha, which can can be seen by the bowl and the flower that are each held in one hand of the statue. the right hand is held in the left hand, which is down with fingers extended to the ground, palm outwards in the direction of the viewer, a bowl with herbs resting on the lap.
Tibetans believe that Buddha was responsible for giving people on earth the knowledge of medicine and in fact, the right hand turned outward means "grant a blessing" (i.e. give a blessing) to humanity. This is a common hand gesture among both Buddhist and Hindu statues. The medicine Buddha is revered by those who are in search of health and is more commonly found in the Buddhist temples and communities of Nepal and Tibet.
The Buddha is in a generally good condition.
