Rare Art Nouveau vase decorated with motifs of the medieval Bayeux tapestry. As to the style, the vase can be characterised as a mixture of arts and crafts and Art Nouveau. The design is Art Nouveau, the medieval theme of the decor is more in keeping with arts and crafts.
The original Bayeux Tapestry is an embroidered artwork with a length of 70 metres and a half meter height, depicting the history of the Battle of Hastings in 1066. William the Conqueror from Normandy launched an attack on England and defeated the Anglo-Saxon King Harold.
Two images are added showing which fragments are depicted on this special vase.
One of the 'ears' is slightly worn and therefore slightly more blunt than the other. The vase is in good condition. The glazing and colouring are very beautiful and vivid.
