Accessory wardrobe. Traditional dowry for wardrobe accessories.
The paulownia or tree of the empress was planted when she was born and cut for the bridal dowry. (see photo inscription) Original craftsmanship of Osaka in the Edo peace period (1600-1860) thanks to the sankinkotai, that is the obligatory moving of the feudal daimyo to Edo (Tokyo) and to alternate residence in three years and swap with their wives. This impoverished the enemies of the emperor and was the boom of light furniture. Due to their light weight, they were also used to carry props to the theatre.
They are fireproof and repel fungi.
This type of craftsmanship or designation of origin is called Ōgawa 大川. At the beginning of the Taisho period (1912-26) until 1922 they were manufactured in this type of three-module cabinet. This coincided with a great demand after the fires that accompanied the earthquake of 1912.
