Armchair and ottoman are a design by Pierre Paulin for Artifort, who took this furniture into production in 1965.
This set was purchased new in 2002, after Artifort reintroduced the model into the collection.
Both the armchair and the ottoman have a round aluminum base with felt edge for safe use on hard floors.
The furniture is covered with the off-white fabric Tiree (Bute Fabrics), colour number 2223, 92% pure new wool / 8% nylon.
The set has been used in a smoke and pet free home and looks good with normal traces of use and slight discolouration of the fabric at the armrests.
Pierre Paulin (Paris, 9 July 1927 - Montpellier, 13 June 2009) was a French industrial designer. He is known in the Netherlands as a designer of some famous Artifort furniture, such as the Ribbon Chair, for which he received the American Industrial Design Award in 1969. He also designed the Orange Slice and the Tulip series.
The motto of all his designs for seating furniture was: "An armchair must protect the one that sits in it."
