A fine and large Nanking porcelain vase, standing 30½cm tall and weighing 2405g, delicately painted in iron red enhanced with gold paint, in decor of birds amongst thick foliage. Marked to the underside with apocryphal Chenghua reign mark, carved in a square. Fitted with bronze ring to the foot rim. Marked with retailer's sticker from Paris, Galey Frères on Boulevard Saint Germain no. 242. Can be dated to circa 1900.
Condition: Bottom drilled for use as lamp, otherwise good.
