A large handmade 19th century Dutch silver pillbox with an enamelled lid.
The pillbox has a hand-crafted enamelled lid featuring an exceptionally beautiful detailed image of a peacock and flowers.
The enamel is brightly coloured and is flawless.
Nice Dutch hallmarks, and is marked with the silver content stamp 835 and an old Dutch excise stamp as was used between 1893 and 1906 (see photos).
This is a sturdy box and measures: 6.2 cm x 4.6 cm.
The box weighs: 37.3 g.
Entirely in lovely condition, the silver shows some minor signs of wear, the enamel is perfect.
The box’s lid latches perfectly.
It is a strikingly beautiful object due to its size and exceptionally beautiful tooling, but can of course also still be used.
These types of enamelled pill-boxes are rare, and are seldom offered, especially in this beautiful and flawless condition.
Will be shipped via registered mail.
