Verdren was educated at the architecture department at the ENSAAV (Ter Kameren). As a young twenty-something, he went to live in Paris. There, he worked in the studio of British printmaker Stanley William Hayter (1901-1988), known as "Atelier 17". He worked on the graphical edition "Geoform 1967".
Verdren resided in Ostend again in the early sixties, and joined the group Geoform, where he formed artistic friendships with Jo Delahaut and Gilbert Decock.
He is known as a constructivist of geometric, non-figurative painter. He had a preference for working in black and white.
