Cornelis Bruinsma is a 20th century painter and draftsman from the province of Gelderland. He was born on 7th August, 1942 in Hattum.
Cornelis Bruinsma lives and works in the Achterhoek region. De Achterhoek is also called De Graafschap and is known for its medieval towns, the endless forests with beautiful hilly landscapes and the peaceful rivers. A true muse for classical painters. It is therefore understandable that Cornelis Bruinsma has a preference for landscapes.
Cornelis Bruinsma soon developed into a versatile artist in his early years, with which he acquired the art to capture the contours of landscapes in detail.
Logically, with De Achterhoek in mind, Cornelis Bruinsma later started to specialize in the classical painting of Dutch landscapes, because this fascinates him so much. He also gained fame for his non-figurative canvases. With his summer landscapes, but especially with his very refined winter landscapes, he managed to reach the general public and he gained great fame. His works were soon exhibited in Delft, Deventer, Apeldoorn and Bocholt.
