His themes were cityscapes, alleys, canals, courtyards, and also dune- and seascapes.
In the Dutch graph tradition Harting reached great heights.
He depicted reality in a sober and business like way.

The piece was signed in the print in the lower right, and the mid frame is titled.
The etching was printed by Mouton & Co in the Hague.
Hans van Dokkum was a Dutch watercolour painter, draughtsman, graphic artist, and painter.
