Corneille was born in the Belgian Liège; this is an original work from 1996, signed on the front and back, origin Jarski Art Gallery Amsterdam, very luxury framing.
In 1950, he moved from Amsterdam to Paris, where he lived until 1968 with the photographer Henny Riemens  (1928-1993). The couple married in 1955 in Amsterdam and travelled several times to other parts of the world: North-
Africa, North-America, the West Indies and South-America. These trips have a significant impact on the nature of his work. From 1960 he fell back on figurative art in which women, birds, flowers and often personalities belonged to his artistic vocabulary.
Corneille lived withdrawn in the Maison du Cedres in the French Department of Val-d'Oise. He passed away on 5 September 2010. Corneille is buried on the cemetery in Auvers-sur-Oise, where Vincent van Gogh was also buried in 1890.
