IGNI Torino, 1950s ceramic - “Cappuccetto Rosso” (Red Riding Hood).
Nice ceramic figurine from the 1950s, excellent condition.
No defects or restorations.
The “Igni” factory was founded by Torinese master ceramist Lionello (Nello) Franchini in 1936, based in Turin, Via Principi d’Acaja 40/1. Talented artists such as Camillo Ghigo, Ines Grande and Otto Maraini designed for IGNI modern ceramic pieces of religious or secular theme, female figurines, vases, ornaments, wall plates, tiles and decorative panels that were exported especially to the Americas, England and Belgium.
Under the co-direction with S.Bertrand, alongside the regular series production, the factory started an interesting production of unique pieces created by great artists.
During the war years, the factory had to close and in the early 1950s, Franchini sold the company and moved to Albisola, where he started working with the company “Pier Luca Ceramiche,” owned by Bepi Mazzotti.
