Rare glacoide advertising sign for St. Sixtus from 1985. Year mentioned in the bottom right: TPB 134/85/1985.
After World War II the fathers of the very well known Trappist abbey of Westvleteren sought an abbey to commercialize their beers and thus the brewery of St. Bernardus was founded. For 46 years the beers for the St Sixtus abbey of Westvleteren Abbey were brewed there. In 1992 the license came to an end and the name St. Sixtus was forced to changes into St. Bernardus. The fathers of Westvleteren started brewing beer: the Trappist of Westvleteren, widely regarded as one of the best beers in the world.
On this sign is still the name ‘St. Sixtus', which is rare.
